The San Giovanni Castle soars above the village of Baitoni, a district of the municipality of Bondone

Along the road, which proceeds from Baitoni to Bondone, the S. Giovanni Castle is enthroned on a cliff. For hundreds of years the castle was in possession of the powerful Lodron family. In course of time the castle decayed. Today the castle ruin is a proof of a turbulent history.
In the 1950s a count of Milan purchased the castle and rebuilt it. Thereafter the municipality of Bondone bought the castle and made it publicly available. From the terrace of the castle a gorgeous view on the Valle del Chiese valley and Lake Idro can be enjoyed.
