Lake Serraia, also known as Lago di Serraia or Lago della Serraia in Baselga di Piné, is a stunning natural bathing lake. It is surrounded by verdant meadows, forests and rushes where numerous animals and water plants live. In summer, many visitors enjoy a refreshing swim in this lake of glacial origin. Its large surface area of 450,000 sq m and its maximum depth of 15 metres make it suitable for a large variety of water sports, including stand-up paddleboarding and canoeing. The necessary equipment can be hired at the rental points on the shores. You can also hire a pedalo or a kayak and make a trip on the lake or practise recreational fishing. In fact, Lake Serraia is a natural habitat for many fish species like eel, carp, chub, pike, perch and tench.
This body of water measuring 1,205 x 525 metres can be discovered close up during a relaxing walk along a 4-km long circular trail leading to the nearby Lago delle Piazze. The village Piazze is only a 30-minute walk from Lake Serraia, which can be toured on a 10-km long path. On the shores you can find picnic areas with wooden benches and tables, a playground, several car parks, restaurants, pizzerie and rental points. In winter, the lake ices over. If you are into winter sports we recommend spending some time at the Ice Rink Piné, an ice stadium with a traditional and a speed skating ice rink.
The Laghestel biotope and the pyramids of Segonzano are only two attractions you shouldn't miss. The panoramic paths crossing the entire high plateau are highly appreciated by passionate walkers. We recommend hiking along the path leading around the Lakes of Piné. Lake Serraia and Baselga di Piné are only 24 km from the city of Trento and are therefore easily accessible by car, bike and bus.
Also in 2026 the Guida Blu of the Legambiente and of the Touring Club Italiano, an association founded in 1894 with the aim of promoting tourism in Italy, awarded the municipality of Baselga di Piné and Lake Serraia with the prestigious award "Tre Vele" for its excellent water quality and services and the particular attention devoted to the protection of the environment and biodiversity.
