Lake Terlago

Lake Terlago, a natural bathing lake in Terlago is composed of two small lakes (Lago Grande and Lago Piccolo). They split in drought periods and join in rainy periods. In former times Terlago had three lakes, as the original name of the village, Trilacum, reveals. The shores around the lake are characterised by meadows, trees and rushes. The path around the first lake can be completed in a relaxing stroll of 30 minutes. It is suitable also for families with children. About 8 km from the village extend the Lago di Lamar and the Lago Santo.

Near the lake extends a biotope where several animals and plants live. The observational tower attracts bird-watching enthusiasts. On the south-eastern lake shores were found pile-dwellings from the Stone Age and the Bronze Age, as well as household tools, wooden structures, a pendant, weapons, pieces of tissue and the remains of boats. The area around the lake and the clay-rich terrain have played an important role in the preservation of these remains. Today the site is partially under water.

At the lake you can undertake bike and MTB-tours on the cycle path or in the forests, as well as hikes and walks in the biotope south of the lake and along the surrounding paths. At the beach you can hire wakeboards, stand-up-paddles and canoes.

In 2026, Lake Terlago has been awarded the prestigious Bandiera Blu eco-label, which is given for excellent water quality, protection of the environment and sustainable services.
