The alpine hiking tour across the Sella Group takes us to its highest summit, the Piz Boé at 3,152 metres a.s.l

We start our hiking tour at Passo Pordoi (2,240 metres a.s.l.) above Canazei in the Val di Fassa, from where we take the cable car up to the 2,947-metre high Mount Sass Pordoi on the south-western border of the Sella Group. The path descends to Forcella Pordoi, where we take path no. 627 towards Rifugio Boé which partially follows the Alta Via delle Dolomiti AV 2.
We cross a moonscape-like landscape and approach Rifugio Boé at the head of the famous Val Mezdì. Right before the mountain hut path no. 638 branches off right towards the Piz Boé. From here starts a demanding ascent. The most difficult sections are secured with ropes making them suitable for almost all mountain lovers.
After almost two hours of walking, we reach the peak. The Capanna Fassa hut, a small wooden hut on the Piz Boé stands near the summit cross and the transmission tower. The true highlight of Piz Boé, however, is the stunning view of the Sella group and the surrounding Dolomite peaks it offers: from here you can enjoy stunning views of the Fanes, the Marmolada, the Sassolungo, the Odle and other summits. For today's tour we chose the easiest itinerary to the summit.
If you prefer a more challenging path, you can opt for a shorter but steeper and more exposed route by following the signpost "Capanna Fassa / Piz Boé" from Forcella Pordoi. Tip: another hike in this area is the mountain tour to the Pordoi saddle and the Antersass saddle.
