Our destination is Rifugio Paradiso, a mountain hut above Folgaria at the foot of Monte Cornetto

In former times this area was equipped with a ski lift and a small skiing area. Today, the mountain is a popular destination only for more gentle winter sports, even though the surroundings provide ski slopes and lifts. We start our itinerary at Passo Sommo (1,341 m a.s.l.), more precisely at the car park which lies 100 metres below the Chalet Sommo towards Folgaria. We walk across the meadows to the forests towards Monte Cornetto. The unpaved, snowy road takes us to a junction where the path on the right leads uphill towards cima del Cornetto and the left path towards the Rifugio Paradiso.
This final section is slightly steep. We continue through the snow-covered forest and across the underlying meadows below Monte Cornetto, where a mountain hut lies. Situated in a sunny position, the hut serves delicious local dishes and the stunning view ranges from Monte Bondone to the Alpi Vicentine. We decide to descend directly to Folgaria instead of retracing our steps. From Folgaria we take the bus back to Passo Sommo.
