San Lorenzo in Banale, the entrance to the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park, is located at 758 m asl. and has about 1,000 inhabitants. San Lorenzo in Banale is one of the most beautiful villages of Italy, it offers a beautiful centre with capitals and the Casa Osei from the 18th century, which houses an ethnographic permanent exhibition.
In the village centre there is a sports centre with a swimming bath and sports field, moreover the village is an ideal starting point for walking tours in the Val d’Ambiez valley and the Brenta-Dolomites. For climbers there is the “Parco degli Scoiattoli” (squirrel park) in the Promeghin sports centre, a climbing crag with 38 routes.
In autumn you should not miss the “Sagra della Ciuìga” festival which is dedicated to the local delicacy, the “Ciuìga del Banale”, a sausage made from pork and boiled turnips.
