Torre S. Margherita

The medieval tower S. Margherita is the only remain of a fortified 13th-century hospice, which was originally composed of dormitories for monks and pilgrims, a granary, a stable, a kitchen, a warehouse and a church

The tower was used to defend the surrounding buildings, which were exposed to threats such as theft, barbaric invasions and fires. At the beginning of the 15th century however, the building ceased to serve as a hospice and passed to the episcopal seminary of Trento.

In the 19th century, the medieval buildings, that is the dormitories, the warehouse and the kitchens were demolished and replaced by the new church of the village. The tower, the only part that has survived to this day, was converted into a bell tower. This stone tower, boasting a small entrance gate which is currently above street level, becomes thinner as it rises.
