Gerardo Sega fixed-rope route

A fixed rope route in a very impressive landscape in the Mount Baldo area, with starting point in Avio

The fixed rope route we are going to do today lies in a very impressive landscape near Lake Garda. From Avio we drive towards the Valle dei Molini and park our car at the first bend.
From here, we follow trail no. 652, a narrow and steep serpentines trail leading to the start of the fixed rope route. After a short visit of the Preafessa waterfall, we finally reach the fixed rope course (after approx. 1 h 45 min).

At the start of the fixed rope route some stairs lead us under a very beautiful and atmospheric rocky cliff, the Via dei Carbonai. From there, we arrive at a slightly exposed section, offering a great panoramic view. The fixed rope route continues on a rather vertical level and on the last section we have to climb a wall to finally reach a narrow forest road.

Descent: We follow the signpost “Ritorno Avio“ across beautiful alpine meadows, passing mountain huts and the small church Madonna della Neve, until we reach the fork to arrive at the Preafessa waterfall and finally our starting point.

Please note: If you want to reduce the walking time, drive to the Passo Pozza della Cola, passing Lake Pra da Stua. If you park your car there, you will have to walk about 1 1⁄2 hours less).
