We arrive at Vetriolo Terme (1,480 m a.s.l.) by driving along the provincial road from Levico into the Valsugana. The village of Vetriolo is situated on a natural terrace above the valley and offers stunning views to the Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna high plateaux. From the car park near the thermal baths we walk slightly eastwards to the Osteria Maso Vetriolo Vecchio from where the forest road to Malga Masi starts.
Path no. 309 runs slightly uphill through a forest to an altitude of 1,750 m a.s.l. The last section slightly descends to Malga Masi at 1,720 m a.s.l. This mountain hut is situated amidst a snowy meadow at the foot of Cima Panarotta and Monte Fravort. From here you can enjoy a wonderful view of the valley near Borgo Valsugana.
On our return we follow the same road through the magical winter forest with its snowy trees. This route can be walked without snowshoes. However, snowshoes are required if you would like to ascend towards the La Bassa pass, Cima Panarotta or the Fravort peak.
