Calavino

The village of Calavino (409 m a.s.l.) on the western slopes of Monte Bondone at the entrance to the Valle di Cavedine is composed of the districts of Mas, Bagnol and Piazza

Surrounded by vineyards and fruit orchards, the hamlet of Calavino has never lost its appeal as a traditional, rural locality of Trentino. The upper part of the village is still marked by the rustic and refined architectural style of the beautiful Renaissance residences, whereas the sawmills, forges and factories below the main road denote a medieval appearance. Palazzo Negri di San Pietro overlooking the village is composed of a small tower and a curtain wall surrounding its gardens, a chapel and a vineyard and is definitely worth visiting.

Thanks to its proximity to Lake Garda, Calavino's mild climate sets ideal conditions for olive groves and certain vineyards to thrive. Castel Madruzzo is also the starting point of the path leading to the hamlet of Lagolo with its eponymous lake enclosed by very ancient beech trees.

Every year, for a whole weekend in July, Calavino turns into a typical, medieval hamlet, reenacts life under the Madruzzo dynasty.
