Monclassico (790 m a.s.l.), the last village of the Val di Sole, is situated near the Monclassico plain and lives from fruit cultivation and especially apple production. The small loom weight found in this place vouches for the **village's origins dating back to the Iron Age.
The massive, rustic noble houses with their beautiful windows and stone portals are characterised by a picturesque architecture. At the beginning of the 21st century, an interesting project, with the aim of transforming Monclassico into the "village of sundials": every year in July, famous Italian and international artists create five sundials on the external walls of the buildings. Also the old house decorated with a huge fresco from 1511 in Piazza della Fontana and the 18th century San Vigilio church are worth a visit.
