Description
Falconry is the art of hunting with falcons. Its origins are very ancient and the first evidence comes from an area in Central Asia between China and Mongolia. From here it then spread to Europe and Asia Minor. The greatest exponent of Italian Falconry was Frederick II, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, falconry was not only the prerogative of lords and ladies, but also began to be practised by bishops and abbots. Hunting was also a favourite activity of the guests who frequented the summer residence of Trentino's prince-bishops.
This theme will inspire the weekends (Sat-Sun) from 6 August to 28 August of the "DiCastelincastello" event, curated by the Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara, which will see Stefano Maffei at Castel Stenico perform falconry and bird training demonstrations.
Three performances will be offered during the course of the day at 12.00, 14.00 and 16.00.
