Hike from Vigo di Ton to Castel Thun

This spring walk in the lower Val di Non valley takes us through forests and fruit orchards to the beautiful Castel Thun

The village of Ton in the Val di Non is starting point for our little walk of 2 km only to Castel Thun. We start at the Piazza Guardi in the centre and follow the Via Valle up to the football field.

It is mid April and the forest is reawakening, in the covert the first heralds of spring start blooming. We follow the path "Percorso d'Anaunia" no. 4, leading us to Castel Thun. It takes us through the mixed forest and farther through the fruit orchards in full blossom of the lower Val di Non.

Reaching the castle hill, we are surprised by the dimensions of the castle. The mighty fortress is located in the centre of the ancient murals. Restored several years ago by the province of Trento, today it hosts the provincial museums. This is where we get to know more about the Thun family and the archbishops of Trento. Amazing is the view of the Val di Non valley and the Brenta Dolomites.
