This spring walk in the lower Val di Non valley takes us through forests and fruit orchards to the beautiful Castel Thun

The village of Ton in the Val di Non is the starting point for our short 2-km walk to Castel Thun. We start at Piazza Guardi in the centre and follow Via Valle up to the football field.
It is mid April, the forest is reawakening from a long, cold winter and in the undergrowth the first spring heralds begin to bloom. We take path no. 4, named "Percorso d'Anaunia", which leads us to Castel Thun. It takes us through a mixed forest and further through the fruit orchards in full blossom of the lower Val di Non.
As we reach the castle hill we are surprised by the dimensions of this fortress. It is surrounded by ancient walls and was restored several years ago by the province of Trento. Today it hosts one of the provincial museums. If you want to delve into the world of the Thun family and the archbishops of Trento, then you are definitely in the right place. The view of the Val di Non and the Brenta Dolomites we enjoy from here, is simply amazing!
