We begin our hike in Garniga Terme below Monte Bondone and reach the meadows of Malga Albi by ascending a forest path. In May this landscape becomes a sea of flowers

The village of Zobbio, our starting point, is located on the road between Trento and Garniga Terme via Cimone. Initially, we take a path running alongside the road to Garniga where we head towards the hill of the Sant'Osvaldo church from the 14th century from where we have a stunning view of the Valle dell'Adige near Trento. We continue, following the signpost "Garniga Vecchia" on the left and continue on the asphalt road towards Garniga Vecchia. On the opposite side of the road, the path to Malga Albi starts.
The route narrows and runs steadily uphill through the forest. In the clearings there are numerous peonies right before their blooming period. After an about 50 minute walk the path leaves the forest and continues on the meadows of Malga Albi. Here, at 1,260 m a.s.l. we admire a carpet of alpine flowers, including gentian, cowslips and different orchids. After a break at the malga we descend on the asphalt path leading through Gatter and then back to Zobbio.

Update: In January 2018 Malga Albi was completely destroyed by a fire and its reconstruction is currently being planned. The signposts we photographed have since been largely removed, meaning that it is difficult to find the right path. Hikers who would like to undertake this hike anyway should use a route map.
