Avio Ferrata Gerardo Sega
Avio Ferrata Gerardo Sega

via ferrata Gerardo Sega

An impressive via ferrata on Monte Baldo area, starting near Avio

This via ferrata is set in a stunning landscape near Lake Garda. From Avio, we drive towards the Valle dei Molini and park our car at the first bend.

From here, we follow trail no. 652, a narrow trail with steep switchbacks leading to the start of the Via Ferrata Gerardo Sega. After a short visit to the Preafessa waterfall, we reach the beginning of the via ferrata (after approx. 1 h 45 min).

At the start, some stairs lead us beneath a beautiful and impressive rocky cliff, known as the Via dei Carbonai. From there, we come to a slightly exposed section offering great panoramic views. The via ferrata continues up a fairly vertical stretch, and the last part involves climbing a wall to reach a narrow forest road.

Descent: We follow the signpost for “Ritorno Avio“ across beautiful alpine meadows, passing mountain huts and the small church of Madonna della Neve, until we reach the junction for the Preafessa waterfall and, eventually, our starting point.

Please note: If you want to reduce the walking time, drive to Passo Pozza della Cola, passing the lake Lago Pra da Stua. Parking here, you will safe you 1hour 30 minutes of walking time.
