The TrentoFilmFestival is one of the oldest film festivals in Italy. The first edition took place in 1952 when the Club Alpino Italiano, the Italian Alpine Club, came up with the idea of organising a film festival on mountains together with the municipality of Trento. Since then, the city of Trento hosts the unique TrentoFilmFestival which attracts numerous visitors every year.
The mountains in all their facets, research studies, nature, culture and alpinism are the protagonists of this event. The shown films and videos were realised in different countries. The rich programme is very varied and besides film shows, it also comprises exhibitions and book readings.
The selected films focus on mountains and their protection, as well as the relationship between humans and mountains, history, society and environmental protection. The TrentoFilmFestival is one of the founding members of the Alliance for Mountain Film, an association that includes the most important film festivals on mountains.
