In Gardeccia, in the heart of the Catinaccio, you can find three mountain huts which are open also in winter. These refreshment points are an ideal destination for snowshoe- and winter hikers, as well as sledders. Gardeccia offers a wonderful natural landscape in the magical quietness of the snowy mountains, far away from the ski slopes

The Val de Vajolet, a side valley of the Val di Fassa extends to the Catinaccio massif. Our winter hike starts in Soal above the valley entrance and leads us to the stunning mountain huts of Gardeccia. The itinerary is well-marked and can also be used as a sledge run.
This 3.5 km long path presents an altitude difference of slightly less than 400 metres and initially runs across a dense forest before it proceeds through a rocky landscape below the Crepe di Larsec. After a 90 minute walk we arrive at the mountain huts of Gardeccia: Baita Enrosadira, Baita Stella Alpina Spiz Piaz and Rifugio Gardeccia, all of them situated at the end of the marked path at an altitude of 2,000 m a.s.l.
The mountain huts are located in a sunny position and are not only the perfect winter hiking destination, but also an ideal starting point for ski mountaineering tours and snowshoe hikes in the surroundings of the Catinaccio. In the evening we return to the car park of Soal along the same path.
