Winter hike to the Vaglianella mountain hut

A wonderful forest path above Madonna di Campiglio and Folgarida near the Passo Campo Carlo Magno takes us to the malghe Montagnoli, Vaglianella and Mondifrà

Malga Vaglianella and the nearby Malga Mondifrà are the destinations of a truly fascinating itinerary in the area of Madonna di Campiglio which is definitely less known and frequented than other routes in this area. These two malghe are perfect for those who would like to discover the stunning beauty of the Brenta Dolomites while enjoying the quietness of nature.

We start at the car park on Passo Campo Carlo Magno and follow the well-marked, numberless path towards Malga Montagnoli which can be reached after a steep section which requires about 30 minutes of walking time. This mountain hut is perfect for a coffee break or a hearty meal.

From here we descend to the left of the mountain hut and walk along path no. 301 to Grostè for about half an hour. At the first crossroads we turn right and follow the slightly uphill path towards Malga Vaglianella. Although it is closed during the winter months, it is still a perfect panoramic spot for a break. Alternatively, you can descend to Malga Mondifrà (about 20 minutes of walking time).

For our return we follow the signposts to Passo Campo Carlo Magno (path no. 355), the final destination of our hike.
