The village of Grumes in the upper Val di Cembra is part of the municipality of Altavalle and has about 400 inhabitants. Cavalese in the Val di Fiemme and Trento, are a 20 minutes and a 30 minutes drive away from Grumes, respectively.
The architecture and urban arrangement of the village convey the influence of the nearby Val di Fiemme which can be recognised in its typical houses which are complete with walkways, an external stairway and wooden structures, as well as in the subdivision of the village in cantons (Gregiòn, Dos, la Riù, Masi and Rella). Along the road to the church you can admire houses decorated with beautiful religious frescoes on their external walls. The parish church of Grumes, whose bell tower with onion dome is detached from the main building, was consecrated to Saint Lucy. Originally built in 1497, this sacral monument obtained its current appearance during renovation works carried out in 1767.
Grumes with its spectacular landscape composed of secular forests, streams, vineyards and dry stone walls is an ideal place for both outdoor activities and relaxing moments in nature. The numerous theme and walking paths give a wink to tourists who are respectful of the environment.
This area is famous for its viticulture and the production of refined Trentino wines, notably the Müller Thurgau.
