Cembra (667 m a.s.l.), the main village of the eponymous valley, stretches on an extensive glacial terrace.
The village is famous for its central role for the local viticulture and wine production, including refined wines like Müller Thurgau, Nosiola, Cabernet and Pinot Nero. The local vineyards grow on picturesque terraces reaching the Avisio river. In the centre of Cembra visitors can admire noble residences and rural districts, as well as the Gothic St. Peter church with its stunning frescoes.
