Riva del Garda is also known as the jewel of Lake Garda ("la perla del Lago di Garda"). Riva, the gate to the southern part of Lake Garda, is adorned by palm, lemon, olive and bay trees. The nearby majestic Brenta Group attracts numerous climbers.
The "Pelèr" (morning wind) and the "Ora" (afternoon wind) blowing in Riva's lovely ports and bays everyday, establish the best conditions for different water sports like sailing and windsurfing.
The architecture of the 14th century residences ("Palazzi") in its historic centre date back to the Venetian Empire. The Rocca di Riva, a medieval fortress from 1124 is now the seat of the Museo Alto Garda.
