The term Terlago derives from the Latin words "inter" (between) and "lacus" (lake) - in fact the village owes its name to the three nearby lakes: Lago di Terlago, Lago Santo and Lago di Lamar.
The lakes are ideal starting points for hikes in the surroundings and on the south-eastern slope of the Paganella massif and well-known destinations for fishermen and nature lovers. The most interesting monuments of Terlago include Castel Terlago, a former fortress which has been transformed into a private residence and the 16th century San Pantaleone church at the entrance of the village.
Thanks to its proximity to the city of Trento and to the western part of Trentino, Terlago's popularity as a holiday resort is constantly increasing, especially among people seeking quietness.
