Situated halfway between the cities of Trento and Rovereto, the village of Besenello benefits from a sunny position and a comfortable climate. It is an ideal starting point for hiking and mountain bike tours, including the Sentiero dell'Imperatore. This old military path takes you from the village of Acquaviva uphill to the St. Trinity church. The fascinating chasm on the left side of the church overlooks the Rio Secco stream.
Castel Beseno stands on a hill and is one of the most significant castles of Trentino and boasts an inestimable historical and artistic value. Since 1973 this castle has belonged to the Autonomous Province of Trento who restored it. Nowadays, this monument is a detached seat of the Castello del Buonconsiglio museum and hosts numerous theatre performances, events and historic re-enactments.
The surrounding area is famous for producing the Moscato Giallo, a popular, aromatic white wine from the Alta Vallagarina. In September we recommend undertaking the culinary "Magnalonga" path, a journey through the local cuisine and wines organised by the municipalities of
Volano and Calliano.
