Tesero and its Cribs Tesero Hotels TeseroDescription
In the early 1990s, Tesero's life-size nativity scene was set up for the first time in a characteristic ‘courtyard’ of the village, one of the typical covered passageways found in the historic centre, and more generally in the winding alleys and modest irregular open spaces that open up between the houses in the old part of the village.
This gave rise to the idea of involving the families of Tesero in setting up their traditional nativity scenes in the “courtyards”, allowing everyone to admire them. Since then, in the period between the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and Epiphany, walking through the “corte” has become like visiting an open-air exhibition, where the most characteristic places, the windows of the cellars and the most evocative little squares are enriched by almost a hundred nativity scenes. Following the notice boards and bright decorations, you will find many valuable nativity scene artefacts.
This year, a new feature will enrich the event: the new barrier-free route of ‘I Presepi tele Corte’ will follow the 12 wooden window displays and light decorations, allowing everyone to find the various valuable nativity scene artefacts around Tesero. The village of Tesero, with its houses close together, is transformed into a large nativity scene, and visitors strolling through the snow-covered cobbled streets become part of the scene. Along the Via Quattro Novembre route, in addition to some new nativity scenes, you can admire the beauty of the illuminated bell tower and a historic nativity scene inside the church dedicated to the patron saint, San Eliseo. The route can be visited freely throughout the day, but we recommend visiting in the evening when the darkness and lighting create an intimate and special atmosphere.
As per a tradition that has continued for 60 years, the Great Nativity Scene will be set up in Piazza Casere Battisti. The Associazione Amici del Presepio (Friends of the Nativity Scene Association), which has been organising this display since 1965, will present a valuable artefact that in previous years has also been taken to the cities of Naples, L'Aquila, Krakow, Assisi and Spinea (VE) with the patronage of the Department of Culture of the Province of Trento and the Municipality of Tesero. The Nativity Scene is open every day and remains illuminated until 11 p.m.
In addition to the large nativity scene and the tour of the historic centre to discover the numerous nativity scenes scattered throughout the courtyards, there is also the exhibition ‘Nativity Scenes from Five Continents’ at the historic Casa Jellici next to the Town Hall.
