Description

Val di Fassa is ready to write a new chapter in its vertical history, hosting Europe's best climbers. On 21st and 22nd June 2025, in Campitello, the first stage of the Senior Lead European Cup will kick off. At the ADEL Climbing Wall, 100 athletes from 18 nations will compete in the Lead discipline, tackling new routes on a 15-metre wall. Holds, quickdraws, successful top-outs, and timed ascents will define the competition. The goal? To reach the highest point within 6 minutes. Scoring will depend on the holds successfully reached and the fluidity of the action. After a collective observation of the route, climbers will ascend one at a time, without prior practice. Routes will be reset for each round to maintain a high level of challenge.

Notable entrants include Australia's Joshua Damasco, runner-up at the 2024 Oceania Championships, Austria's Felix Mader, Youth European champion, and in the women's field, Emily Scott, also an Oceania medallist, Magdalena Kompein, Youth World Championships bronze medallist and European Cup silver medallist, and Spanish climber Iziar Martinez Almendros.

The event, organised by ASD Val di Fassa Climbing, is spread over two days:

  • Friday 20th June at 9:00 PM, an evening with alpinist Simone Moro
  • Saturday 21st June from 10:30 AM, men's and women's qualifications
  • Sunday 22nd June, semi-finals from 10:45 AM and finals at 5:15 PM, followed by the award ceremony

Saturday evening will feature live music, public activities, and climbing trials for children. Thanks to the official live stream on sportface.tv channels, everyone can follow the competition from anywhere.

The previous edition of the Lead European Cup was dominated by: Giovanni Placci (Italy), Yannick Flohé (Germany), Sascha Lehmann (Switzerland); Jessica Pilz (Austria), Janja Garnbret (Slovenia), Laura Rogora (Italy). Will they reconfirm their dominance or will new talents emerge?
