A mainly vertical via ferrata above Lake Garda
The via ferrata dell'Amicizia, also known as the via ferrata del Centenario SAT, is a fairly demanding route with an almost vertical, 600 m long ascent. The starting point is the village of Riva del Garda on the northern shore of Lake Garda. From here, the route takes you across a steep rock face to Cima SAT, at an altitude of 1,276 m a.s.l. The via ferrata was inaugurated in 1972.
- From Riva del Garda (78 m a.s.l.), the wide, paved trail no. 404 takes you uphill
- Hike further up to the Venetian fortress known as "Bastione", cross a wood and continue along numerous switchbacks towards the Capanna Santa Barbara hut (560 m a.s.l.)
- Turn right onto trail no. 404/bis, which takes you to the start of the via ferrata within 10 minutes.
- Follow the via ferrata, which is equipped with wire ropes
- Cross two fairly long, vertical ladders and continue your ascent
- At the peak (1,276 m a.s.l.) a stunning view over Lake Garda awaits you
- For the descent, a trail with numerous switchbacks, located slightly below the summit, will take you to trail no. 402.
- Trail no. 402 then leads to trail no. 404, which will take you back to Riva del Garda.
