Marcialonga di Fiemme e Fassa

The famous Marcialonga is an international cross-country skiing race in front of the magnificent backdrop of the Dolomites

The Marcialonga, the queen of the classic cross-country skiing races, takes place every year on the last Sunday in January in the Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa valleys, therefore it is also known as “Marcialonga di Fiemme e Fassa”. The first edition dates back to the 1970s: four friends had the idea of organising a cross-country skiing race in the Val di Fiemme valley, based on the then already famous "Vasaloppet" race in Sweden. Over the years and decades the Marcialonga became the most famous cross-country skiing event in Italy.

There are two routes: The classic route, 70 km long, leads from Moena to Cavalese, while the short route “Light” ends after 45 km in Predazzo. The routes proceed through the fantastic landscape of the Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa valleys. The Marcialonga is an event that delights young and old alike with its framework programme and other events!

For children and young people there are the Marcialonga Baby, the Minimarcialonga (between 6 and 12 years) and the Marcialonga Young (between 13 and 20 years). Two other well-known events are the Marcialonga Stars, a charity race, and the entertaining Marcialonga Story, where the athletes compete against each other in historical costumes. A weekend dedicated to sport and entertainment that you should not miss!
