The starting point of today's hike is the entrance to the Val San Nicolò near the valley station of the Buffaure cable car. We walk along the via Ruf de Ruacia for about 1 km until the bridge, where we continue along a forest road on the right side of the valley. After a slight uphill section we reach Malga Crocifisso. Having arrived at the junction to Val Monzoni (Val di Munciogn) near a small church, we are almost halfway to Malga Monzoni.
The Val di Munciogn is a side valley of the Val San Nicolò. The climb (signpost no. 603) to the malga is about three kilometres long and rather easy as it runs along the road where the snowmobiles of the malga's shuttle service run. We reach Malga Monzoni right at lunchtime. At the restaurant you can taste delicious local dishes, as well as the homemade products of the dairy.
Please note: If you don't want to walk back to the starting point, you can take the snowmobile service of the malga to return to Malga Monzoni.
