The villages of the municipality of Bleggio Superiore are all characterised by agriculture and by a strong bond with ancient traditions. According to legends, the small hamlet of Balbido was inhabited by witches who were accused of causing the several natural disasters occurring in this area. To ward off further misfortune, the inhabitants of the area built five iron crosses at the entrance to the valley. One of these is still well-visible today. Another highlight of the hamlet of Balbido is its stunning wall paintings. These artistic masterpieces retrace the history of the village by depicting scenes of everyday life.
Bleggio Superiore is a true outdoor museum which can be visited during a walk through the small hamlets. Do not miss the monumento alla Croce, a monument associated with miracles, and the church dedicated to the Saints Dionisio, Rustico and Eleuterio, a rare example of a worship building in Renaissance style in Trentino.
The hamlet of Rango is known for being one of the most beautiful hamlets of Italy (borghi più belli d'Italia). The village is a remarkable example for rustic architecture with its fountains, entrance halls and inner courtyards. Besides being an excellent starting point for hikes, Bleggio also features a picnic area and a fitness trail.
