Today’s hike through the forests of the Val Marcia includes a visit to the historic hamlets of Rango and Balbido in the municipality of Bleggio Superiore

Rango is one of the most traditional hamlets of Trentino and the Valli Giudicarie and figures among "I borghi più belli d'Italia" (the most beautiful hamlets of Italy). Its typical alpine architecture blends rural stone and wooden elements with more sophisticated ones, including double-arched windows. Information panels in the alleys tell about the daily life in the past.
Having visited the hamlet, we walk towards the Val Marcia (path no. 462) and a few minutes later we reach Balbido, the "painted village" (paese dipinto). The village owes its nickname to the numerous murals covering each house. Over 200 paintings depict the lives of the peasants and the local community. We continue towards the Val Marcia. After walking along an asphalt road for less than one kilometre we follow a forest path. Soon after the chapel of the SS. Trinità, a path branches off towards Livez and to the bed of the Duina stream on the valley floor.
From here, you could proceed along different itineraries to the malghe and the peaks of the surrounding mountains, however, we already need to return. We enjoy the view of the valley and at the end of the forest road we opt for a version of the "Sentiero dei piccoli camminatori", leading us to a panoramic viewpoint before taking us back to Rango. This small, easy hike dedicated to the culture and nature of Bleggio Superiore is ideal for mild spring days.
