Flavon

The village of Flavon in the lower Val di Non is situated along an ancient Roman path which used to connect the Val di Non to the Valle dell’Adige

Due to its important strategic location, Flavon was an imperial fief of the Flavon family, a dynasty which already died out in the 15th century.

The small village of Flavon is an ideal destination for nature lovers and an excellent starting point for artistically and historically interesting hikes through the Val di Non, including to the San Romedio Sanctuary, to the numerous castles and waterfalls of the Val di Non and to the Canyon Rio Sass near Lake Smeraldo. The paths to the mountain huts on Monte Alto start in the village centre. Additionally, you can even undertake horse rides and mountain bike tours.

The interesting parish church of Flavon is dedicated to San Giovanni Battista and was first mentioned in written documents in 1248 before being completely rebuilt in 1537. Inside the church you can admire wonderful frescoes by Angelo Baschenis. This recently restored church is open all year round.
