Embedded in a pre-alpine landscape and overlooked by the Castello di Sabbionara, the village of Avio is a special lace. The aforementioned castle is indeed one of the most impressive castles of Trentino and is visible even by night thanks to its illumination system.
The historic centre of Avio is also worth mentioning. The 17th-century Baroque church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary boasts typically decorated portals which can be admired from the parvis. Some Roman findings vouch for the village's ancient origins.
The local agriculture is based on olive, holm oak and vine cultivation which thrive thanks to the area's mild climate all year round.
