“The House of Water” Museum

The interactive museum "The House of Water" (La Casa dell'Acqua) in Fondo, the administrative centre of the municipality of Borgo d'Anaunia in the Val di Non, was inaugurated in 2016. The district where the museum is situated is called "Giò a l'Aca" in the local dialect and dates back to the 15th century, which makes it one of the oldest districts of the valley.

As its name suggests, the museum is dedicated to water and organised in different exhibition areas where visitors can find interesting information on the importance of this precious resource, as well as on its protection. The exposition also focuses on the historical connection between the hamlet of Fondo and the richness in water resources of the natural environment and landscape of this valley in Trentino, which is characterised by lakes, streams and suggestive canyons. On the ground floor, the museum is connected to the Mulino Bertagnolli, a mill in operation until 1961.

The House of Water is an ideal destination for families and schools. The sentiero "Al Burrone" path which leads to Lake Smeraldo in a 30-minute waalk and the guided excursions to the well-known Canyon Rio Sass should definitely not be missed. Both itineraries start in the immediate vicinity of the museum.

The museum is closed starting from 6 January 2026 and reopens on 4 April 2026.
