Below you can find some guidelines about dogs on means of public transport
If there is enough space four your dog and it doesn't disturb other passengers, you can take it with you while travelling with means of public transport in Trentino.
On local public transport (buses):
The Trentino transport system, “Trentino Trasporti”, includes local buses, the Trento-Malè-Marilleva railway line, and city buses in Trento and Rovereto. Small dogs that can be held in your arms, as well as assistance dogs travel for free, meanwhile larger dogs need need a ticket. All dogs, regardless of their size, must be kept on a leash, wear a muzzle and behave correctly so as not to disturb other passengers.
On trains:
Dogs are allowed on trains in Trentino if they wear a muzzle and are kept on a lead. Small dogs that can be carried in a box (max. 70x30x50 cm), as well as assistance dogs, travel for free. Larger dogs, however, must pay the full ticket price. It is mandatory to take your dog's vaccination certificate or an EU pet passport with you.
On ships (Lake Garda):
Dogs are welcome on ships operating on Lake Garda, provided space is available. Your dog must wear a muzzle and be kept on a lead shorter than 1.5 m. On ships and catamarans, all dogs, regardless of their size, are allowed. Dogs with a shoulder height lower than 50 cm travel for free, whereas bigger dogs pay a reduced ticket. On hydrofoils, only very small dogs kept on their owner's lap or dogs that can be carried in a box are allowed. Assistance dogs travel for free and are allowed on all types of boats, regardless of their size.
On cable cars:
Dogs are usually allowed on cable cars, as long as they wear a muzzle and are kept on a lead. Please contact the cable car operator to find out more on transport conditions. Some operators may apply fees for dog transportation, while others don't. Please check the current regulations with the operator before starting your journey.
