Giustino

The municipality of Giustino in the Val Rendena is embedded in the Adamello-Brenta nature park

Situated at an altitude of 776 m a.s.l. the municipality of Giustino with the hamlet of Vadaione counts about 740 inhabitants. Giustino is a typical mountain village where sodium feldspar, a mineral used for ceramic production was extracted in the past. Today it is a famous tourist destination for both winter and summer holidays.

Most of the municipality of Giustino is immersed in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park near Pinzolo, the peaks of the Brenta group and the Val di Genova. Sports lovers are spoilt for choice as this village boasts a broad range of sports, such as hiking, trekking and mountain biking in summer and skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and much more in winter.

The 12th-century parish church of Santa Lucia is popular for its wonderful frescoes by Simone Baschenis and its precious wooden altar, a masterpiece by Brescian artist Stefano Lamberti. The town hall of Giustino is an interesting building too: it is in fact housed in the old valley station of the cableway that carried the extracted minerals from the mines. The openings where the cars were secured for offloading are still visible.
