Strembo

This municipality of the Val Rendena at 700 m a.s.l. looks back on a century-long history. Today it houses the administrative centre of the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park

This village is characterised by large, ancient houses with spacious entrance halls, as well as steep alleys. In former times, almost all of the village's inhabitants owned goats and worked as itinerant knife grinders in winter. Today, the village lives from wood manufacturing, breeding and packaging production for cured meats.

Strembo has always been a free and independent locality. In fact, the Bertelli di Caderzone castellans never managed to introduce any kind of taxes. A constantly guarded barrier helped Strembo to avoid the Great Plague of 1630.

Today the village has 600 inhabitants and houses the seat of the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park, a natural paradise where numerous hiking and walking paths can be found. Among the historically interesting monuments is the San Tommaso parish church.
