Imèr is an ideal starting and end point for hiking and mountain bike tours thanks to its position on the slightly slanted slopes of the Bedolé
Having passed the narrow Schener gorge at the entrance of the valley, the latter widens, offering a magnificent view of the
Pale di San Martino group. This is where the small village of Imèr with its small historic centre overlooked by the San Silvestro church rises at 650 m a.s.l.
Its name derives probably from the Latin word "imus", which means "lowest village of the valley". According to experts, the origins of Imèr probably date back to the 5th or 6th century AD, a theory supported by the recent discovery of a richly decorated Lombard grave of the same period. Today Imèr counts about 1,200 inhabitants.
The locality is overlooked by Monte Vederna, an extensive high plateau with meadows and forests at the foot of Monte Pavione and provides numerous accommodation facilities, as well as a wide range of leisure activities.
