Mezzano

Mezzano is situated left of the entrance to the Val Noana in an impressive gorge below the Vette Feltrine

The hamlet of Mezzano (640 m a.s.l.) counts 1,600 inhabitants. Its numerous impressive spots and alleys of its historic centre are characterised by the simplicity of the Valle di Primiero, revealing its rural past. It is therefore no surprise that this village is considered "one of the most beautiful hamlets of Italy".

Just like other villages of the Valle di Primiero also Mezzano used to be a mineral extraction site and was therefore marked by the immigration of Austrians from Schwaz, however, without ever losing its importance as an agricultural centre. The Prati di San Giovanni, an alpine area with various farms, is a popular destination for summer hikes and home to the church of San Giovanni.

The local traditions and ancient customs are preserved and handed down to the future generations by the Gruppo Folkloristico di Mezzano, which is the oldest group of its kind in Trentino. Mezzano is also complete with a football and athletics stadium where numerous Italian Serie A teams and other sports associations train.
