The municipality of Ronzo Chienis includes the area of the Val di Gresta and is home to about 1,000 inhabitants. The village of Ronzo Chienis is situated at 1,000 m a.s.l. and is only 34 kilometres from Trento. The origins of this ancient settlement are about to be established more clearly thanks to some interesting archaeological findings.
Ronzo Chienis is characterised by a mild climate and a wonderful natural landscape and is therefore the ideal holiday destination for active holidays outdoors. In recent years the organic agriculture and the special bond with nature are the true pillar of the Val di Gresta. In fact, the farmers of Ronzo Chienis were the first ones in North Italy to practise organic agriculture and this is the reason why the Val di Gresta is also known as "la valle degli orti biologici" (the valley of organic gardens).
Environmentally conscious tourists seeking a sustainable holiday appreciate both the organic agriculture and nature. Here it is possible to undertake relaxing walks across the secular forests of the Bordala, along the itineraries on Monte Stivo or visit the ruins of Castel Gresta. The patron saint of this village, St. Michael, is celebrated on 29th September.
