Cheer for the world-best athletes at the Winter Olympic Games in Trentino
Exactly 20 years after the Olympic Winter Games of Turin 2006, the most prestigious sports competition for winter sports comes back to Italy and Trentino is going to be the scene of the nordic combined, ski jumping, cross-country skiing, as well as the Para biathlon competitions.
Cross-Country Skiing and Nordic Combined in Tesero
The Cross-Country Skiing Stadium of Tesero is going to host the Olympic cross-country ski (7 - 22 February 2026), Nordic combined (11 - 19 February 2026) and the Para biathlon races.
Cross-country skiing is a complete sport which is practised along a cross-country ski track by using either the classic or the skating technique, as well as the special equipment they require. Courses for classic technique feature tracks set by a grooming machine, whereas skating technique is practised on a firm snow surface. During races, athletes have to perform either one of those two techniques or, in skiathlon races, even both of them. Available formats are individual races, relays or team competitions. Distances range from 1-1.5 km up to 50 km.
Nordic combined unites ski jumping and cross-country skiing. Athletes need to complete one jump from a specially designed curved ramp and a cross-country race. The order of the two sports and the distance covered in cross-country ski races vary according to the type and format of the competition. The ski jumping of the Nordic combined will be held in the Ski Jumping Stadium of Predazzo.
Paralympic biathlon combines cross-country skiing with rifle shooting. The rifle used in Paralympic biathlon is a conventional rifle. Visually impaired athletes however shoot with an electronic rifle which allows them to aim by using their hearing. Biathletes with physical disabilities at their lower limbs carry out their cross-country ski races with a special sit-ski featuring safety belts and other straps. The diameter of the targets depends on the category the athletes are part of.
Ski Jumping in Predazzo
Ski jumping is a sport practised on specifically designed curved ramps. At the Winter Olympic Games individual and team competitions from ramps of different lengths and sizes are held.
The venue for ski jumping competitions, including those of the Nordic combiners, is the Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium from 5 to 16 February 2026. The centre features a total of five ramps differing in size and length. Three of them are used for training and the other two for competitions.
