The Valle di Cavedine is also known as the val del vent (windy valley) because of the constant breeze blowing here. The municipality of Cavedine, the economic and cultural centre of the valley, includes the hamlets of Brusino, Lago, Stravino and Vigo. The mountain landscape around Cavedine is simply amazing! Here you can admire Monte Bondone, Monte Casale, the more distant Monte Gazza-Paganella and the Brenta Dolomites.
Cavedine is one of the most popular prehistoric and Roman archaeological sites. Noteworthy examples include the Roman street across the village which is particularly beautiful in the summer months, the rustic noble residences and farmsteads, but Piazza Italia, an authentic piazza-villaggio (a square coinciding with the village centre) in the valley, is definitely the feather in Cavedine's cap! Decorated residences, bridges, arcades and stone stairways reflect the original urban arrangement of the village.
Lake Cavedine in the glacial valley of the Sarca stream is likely to have formed following several rockfalls on Monte Brento and Monte Casale. The different fish living in the lake attract fishermen from everywhere.
