This spring hike through debris on the traces of dinosaurs, runs across a truly unique biotope to Lago di Cavedine

We start our hike near the outdoor sports centre along the provincial road between Dro and Drena from which gives direct access to the Marocche di Dro biotope. The path winds across a moonscape-like landscape characterised by debris. The debris formed following some landslides and collapses which hit this area during the glacial retreat about 20,000 years ago. Information panels tell about the geologic characteristics and the uniqueness of a flora and fauna that adapted to this arid and rocky area.
Initially, we follow the signposts with the image of the dinosaur which take us directly to a rock with preserved, million years old tracks of prehistoric animals. Then, we proceed northwards and reach the asphalt road to Lago di Cavedine where we have a picnic, as there are no refreshment points along the way. We continue along the **educational path 'Centrale di Fies', dedicated to the old hydroelectric power plant which was turned into a cultural centre. A stone's throw from the former plant, the path merges into the cycle path.
A little more southwards we return onto the sentiero delle Marocche. We continue towards Laghisoli to complete our circular hike near the car park of the outdoor sports centre. This highly interesting hike will forever be in our hearts for the unique impressions and landscapes it delighted us with. Do not undertake this hike on hot summer days! The rocks reflect the sunlight and can be very hot in summer, making this hike suitable for warm spring and autumn days.
