Garniga Terme

The small municipality of Garniga Terme is situated in the forests of Monte Bondone and provides an extensive network of hiking itineraries on the altopiano delle Viote and to the nearby mountains

Garniga Terme at the foot of Monte Bondone is an ideal starting point for walks, hikes and sports activities in its beautiful surroundings: the altopiano delle Viote (Viote high plateau), Monte Bondone with its three peaks Cima Verde (2,100 m), Monte Cornetto (2,170 m) and Doss d'Abramo (2,140 m), the nearby ski area and the cross-country ski centre in winter.

Garniga is one of the most renowned places for phytobalneotherapy which is known as herbs and hay baths in layman's terms. This thermal treatment of ancient origins is deeply rooted in the alpine area and was transformed into an efficient therapy for some specific illnesses during the centuries. The herbs derive from the meadows of Viote (prati delle Viote) on Monte Bondone where you can visit the "Giardino Botanico Alpino Viote" in summer, which is run by the Museo delle Scienze "MUSE", the science museum in Trento. The herbs are particularly indicated for curing rheumatic or osteoarthritic disorders or muscle pain.

Two architectural gems of the locality are the Sacro Cuore di Gesù church near the public central park which features a small lake and a playground and the more ancient Sant'Osvaldo church from 1377. The latter is situated on the "Dos dei Nozi", a panoramic hill from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Valle dell'Adige.
