With an altitude of 3,558, the Cima Presanella is not only the highest elevation of the Adamello-Presanella group, but of the entire province of Trento. On cloudless days, the view you can enjoy from its summit extends to Milan and Venice.
Even if the itineraries leading up to the Cima Presanella are not particularly difficult, the ascent to the peaks is recommended only to well-equipped and well-trained alpinists with mountain experience.
The first ascent to Cima Presanella was undertaken in 1864 by a group composed of Douglas William Freshfield, H.A. Beachcroft, I.D. Walker and the two alpine guides, Franҫois Devouassoud and B. Delpero who preceded Julius Payer's ascent for a few days, an Austro-Hungarian official from Bohemia, alpine and polar researcher, cartographer and professor at the military academy who became popular also as a painter.
