Between the end of November and Epiphany the hamlet of Ossana fascinates its visitors with a marvellous itinerary showcasing more than 1,000 cribs
The exhibition "Ossana, il borgo dei 1,000 presepi" in Ossana, one of the most beautiful hamlets of Italy, is dedicated to more than 1,000 cribs and has been taking place for several years. This event is considered a highlight of Christmas in the Val di Sole. This itinerary exposes more than 1,000 cribs in the streets and alleys of Ossana and is delimited by a red rope with Christmas decorations. It is illuminated with ancient oil lamps and starts at the impressive Castel San Michele.
The entirely handmade cribs are fabricated by voluntary associations, artists, local families, schools, groups and individuals of the entire Val di Sole. During the manufacturing of these masterpieces artists can fully unleash their creativity to create truly unique artworks by using materials like maize leaves, fabrics and even seeds.
The ancient courtyards of the village are illuminated with Christmas lights and the sweet sounds of music accompany visitors while they are discovering the stunning cribs exhibited along the itinerary, each of them with its own story and charm.
