Fornace surroundsCastello Roccabruna, a fortress which now houses the municipal seat, and the St. Martin church. The Cortiveder district coincides with the village centre and preserves the typical elements of the local, rural life.
The municipality of Fornace probably owes its name to the furnaces used semlting silver extracted from the nearby mines. Tombs and some recently found remains vouch for Roman settlements built in this area.
Porphyry industry plays an important role in this area. Fornace organises numerous traditional festivals, sports events and festivals dedicated to the local gastronomy and wines. The exquisite local dishes perfectly incorporate the flavours of the mountains - a mouthwatering experience!
