Mazzin became famous after archaeological excavations on Doss del Pigui which brought to light traces of Rhaetian settlements. The village is home to the only fully preserved example of a fortified noble house of the entire valley: Casa Battei with its cuspidated tower and prestigious frescoes and decorations. In its surroundings lies Lago di Antermoia, a lake surrounded by ancient Ladin legends.
In winter, cross-coutry skiing enthusiasts can have a great time on the beautiful Marcialonga ski trail leading to Canazei before returning down the valley. Passionate alpine skiers can benefit from an extensive ski bus network, ensuring quick access to the lifts of nearby ski areas, such as the Col Rodella Ski Area and the Sella Ronda circuit. The two hamlets of Campestrin and Fontanazzo are also part of the municipality of Mazzin.
