The animal care centre, not far from Trento, is a true haven for injured and sick wild animals.

The Alpine Animal Care Centre Casteller (Centro di recupero fauna alpina di Casteller) is located only a few minutes drive from Trento. The rescue centre and clinic for injured wild animals was founded in the 1960s, today it is managed by the association of the hunters of Trento. The centre is located in a forest where the wild animals can find a mostly natural surrounding for their recovery.
After the animals have been nursed back to health, they are released into the wild again, as far as they can survive on their own. If this is not possible anymore, the animals find a new home in large corrals in the care centre, amidst nature.
The animal care centre opens its doors for visitors only on weekends in May and June and offers guided tours for families. Accompanied by a qualified gamekeeper the visitors can watch the animals from close up, among them fawns, shoats, moufflon, chamois, foxes and many others.
Please note: Due to renovation work the animal care centre is currently closed.
