Autumn tour Fuciade and Valfredda

This hike to passo San Pellegrino below the Marmolada massif, which we do in October, can be undertaken all year round and even with snowshoes

The starting point of our hike is the Passo San Pellegrino near Moena. Right after the pass, the path to the Albergo Miralago (car park) branches off. At this refreshment point we follow the forest road no. 607 towards Fuciade through stunning larch woods and past the Rifugi Garghele and Sbrinz before arriving at the alpine meadows of Fuciade.

Here, we are near the baite di Fuciade right below the impressive amphitheatre of Cima Uomo and Sas Valfreida (Marmolada group). After a short stop we take path no. 607 towards "Forca Rossa". Soon, we leave this path and cross scythed meadows to arrive at the baite "Casoni di Valdredda". If you followed the marked path, you would need to cover another 150 metres of elevation gain.

At the wooden chapel dedicated to the beatified Pier Giorgio Frassati, we take the forest road downhill. Then we walk along the Valfredda and reach the larch forests with their stunning autumn colours, ranging from yellow-gold to reddish brown. Near Malga Boer the route meets a small asphalt road and shortly after we follow the signpost taking us back to the Albergo Miralago (Passo San Pellegrino) via a forest path.
