Livo

Livo is located at an altitude of 741 m a.s.l. in the heart of the Altopiano del Mezzalone, between the Pescara and Barnes streams

Livo is one of the most ancient villages of the entire valley and includes the hamlets of Preghena, Varollo and Scanna.

The Residenza della Toresela in Renaissance style based on mediaeval elements, is worth visiting. Take some time to visit the three most precious churches: the Pievana della Natività di Maria church in Varollo, the Sant'Antonio church in the hamlet of Preghena and the ancient Romanesque S. Martino church which houses many 15th century frescoes.

The ruins of Castel Zoccolo, a former residence of the eponymous Zoccolo family from Livio which was later acquired by the Thun family, are situated in a wonderful panoramic position and should definitely be visited.
