Livo is one of the most ancient villages of the entire valley and includes the hamlets of Preghena, Varollo and Scanna.
The Residenza della Toresela in Renaissance style based on medieval elements is worth mentioning. Take some time to visit the three most precious churches: the Pievana della Natività di Maria church in Varollo, the Sant'Antonio church in the hamlet of Preghena and the ancient Romanesque S. Martino church. Moreover, you can find many frescoes of the 15th century.
In a wonderful panoramic spot near Livo you can find the ruins of Castel Zoccolo, a former residence of the eponymous Zoccolo family from Livio which was later acquired by the Thun family.
